The Pejsaži (Landscapes) collection received the Svetlobnica Literary Award for 2020, accompa- nied by the award committee’s praise: ‘In our lit- erary scene, we rarely come across such weighty, authentic and linguistically skilful essay writing.’ The book also received the Rožanc Award, whic...h is given annually to the most outstand- ing essayist in Slovenia. The title Pejsaži (Landscapes) refers to a thread connecting all essays in which the author deals with various topics: ‘The word landscape usu- ally brings to mind a segment of rural or urban panorama. In a way, we could say that there is at least a fragment of landscape in every essay.’ In this, his second book of essays, the au- thor, in his own words, ‘attempted to integrate his emotional and spiritual experience into each essay, transcending theoretical discours- es, including Slovenian smallness, ideological frictions and stereotypes in terms of individual thinking.’
